New Contract signed by MANA’s Technology Department
Mana’s Development and Technology Nucleus (NDT), signed a contract with Techint – Andrade Gutierrez Consortium (TE-AG) to the implementation of an integrated environment for COMPERJ Coke project. “This contract is very important to MANA because it represents the reinforcement of actions taken under last years’ strategic plan, which stated that solutions developed by the technology department should be converted into commercializable products, opening new business opportunities to the company.”, says Alexandre Brandão, Technology Director.
The R$ 1,89 Billion contract between Petrobras and TE-AG Consortium includes the construction of the Delayed Coking Unit (U2200), Coke Handling and Storage Facility (U6821) and Electrical Substations (SE 2200 e SE 6821), to the Petrochemical Complex of Rio de Janeiro, located in the city of Itaborai.
“Consortium’s decision to use the integration solutions developed by MANA was based on the success of these solutions when used on AG-Tech Consortium for RLAM´s Onsite Diesel Portifolio. Even so an extremely detailed evaluation of the tools available at the market was conducted, with the participation of Techint’s technical corps at Argentina. At the end of this evaluation, Mana was chosen as supplier of the integration solution that will be used in the whole project.” says Alexandre.
The following diagram presents the implementation framework used by MANA’s team:

COMPERJ Coke
The UCR (Delayed Coking Unit) will convert vacuum residue into more valuable streams, especially the ones that go into the diesel pool. It will have the capacity to process 7.500 m3/d of residue, in the case of processing in COMPERJ the oil produced in Marlim Field and 6.100 m3/d of residue, in the case of the oil produced in Cabiúnas. In UCR, there will also be an Amine section to remove the H2S contained in the LPG produced.
The coke site (U-6821) will have the capacity to process 2.300 ton/d and the capacity to store 35.000 tons in 2 piles. There will also be highway and railway transportation systems.
COMPERJ
COMPERJ, the largest industrial undertaking of Petrobras’ history, will be able to process 150.000 barrels per day of heavy oil from Campos Basin, resulting in the production of various second-generation petrochemical products, such as polyethylene, polypropylene, PTA, PET, ethylene glycol and styrene. Additionally, its basic petrochemical unit will produce Oil Coke, Sulfur, Heavy Naphtha and Benzene, among other petrochemical feedstock, in addition to Diesel Oil.
